PURPOSE:To reduce the size of characters in picture data and to output the only reduced picture wide enough to be essentially used by sending a warning when the size of the character is lower than the prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The picture data from a CCD sensor 6 is stored in a memory 73 and then sent through a picture processing system to a laser driver unit. The picture processing system is provided with a picture data input part 70, picture processing part 71, picture data output part 72, memory 73, CPU 74 for picture processing. Thus, the color reproduction according to the original is performed and the correction or the like of the picture is performed when the reduction processing mode is specified. In this case, the CPU 74 executes the function of calculation, judgement and warning and recognizes the size of the character from the picture data based on the result of detecting characters. The size of the reduced character is calculated and whether the reduced character is higher than the reduction limit value set in advance is judged. When it is lower than the limit value, the system warns the reduced character can not be read. |
