A process for the manufacture of enveloping and filling materials in the form of bodies of any desired shape, in which wood particles, such as sawdust, are compressed in the heated state, is distinguished in that a dry mixture of 10 to 50 per cent by weight of wood particles in the form of wood flour and of 50 to 90 per cent by weight of starch is produced, and this dry mixture is then heated up thermally.
