<p>PURPOSE:To dispense with a steering torque sensor and reduce the cost of the device by controlling the power source to be switched ON when the induced voltage to be generated in a running electric motor and to be switched OFF when the no-load current is detected by the manual steering. CONSTITUTION:When a handle is rotated, and the resistance is present in a pinion shaft, the torque is generated, and a stub shaft is brought into contact with an electric motor 31 side to rotate a motor shaft. This rotation generates the induced voltage, the power source 29 is switched ON, the electric motor 31 is rotated and the motor torque is generated thereby. When the handle is not rotated and no rotational resistance of the pinion shaft is present, the clutch is disconnected, the electric motor 31 is unloaded, the current running in the electric motor 31 becomes small, the no-load current is detected, and the power source is switched OFF. Thus, the induced voltage introduced in the motor voltage switches the power source ON, and the no-load current switches the power source OFF, and the electric motor 31 can be operated only when necessary.</p> |
