The crossbow can be used in shooting for sport and in hunting. It comprises a central component (1), limbs (2) bent in the direction of firing, pulleys (3) secured at the free ends of the limbs (2), a bowstring (4) which passes over the pulleys (3), and a stock (5) on which the central component (1) and a release mechanism (6) are mounted. The stock is provided with a track (8) for the slide (7), the track being provided with a groove (15), a channel below the bowstring (4) and notches (12) equal in number to the number of lobes (14) on the bolt (9). The limbs (2) are designed in such a way that the sum of the forces of the system "limbs-pulleys" and "bolt-slide" at any moment when the limbs are straightening tends to towards zero.
