PURPOSE:To obtain the suppressor, containing a specific carbostyril derivative which is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor as an active ingredient and capable of manifesting effects on adult respiratory distress syndrome due to its ability to remarkably suppress especially vascular endothelial cytotoxicity. CONSTITUTION:This suppressor for endothelial cytotoxicity contains a carbostyril derivative expressed by the formula (A is a lower alkylene; R is a cycloalkyl; the bond between the 3- and the 4-positions of the carbostyril skeleton is single or double bond) {preferably 6-[4-(1-cyclohexyl-1,2,3,4-tetrazol-5- yl)-butoxy]-3,4-dihydrocarbostyril} or a salt thereof as an active ingredient. Furthermore, the content of the compound expressed by the formula in the suppressor is preferably 5-50wt.% based on the whole composition. The daily dose of the suppressor is usually 0.6-50mg/kg body weight expressed in terms of the compound expressed by the formula and the active ingredient is preferably contained in an amount of 10-1000mg in the administration unit form. |
