A holding device for hollow vessels, in particular drinking vessels, has a setting-down element and a supporting element which is aligned parallel to the setting-down element and has at least one aperture penetrated by a set-down hollow vessel. Setting-down element and supporting element are interconnected by a back member. The aperture is equipped with compensating members which adapt its clear width to the diameter of the inserted hollow vessel. The holding device is thus suitable for securely holding hollow vessels of varying diameters, shapes and sizes. Lugs which are arranged on the supporting element, project radially into the respectively assigned aperture and are made of elastic material, for example an elastomer or a silicone rubber, are provided as the compensating member. The lugs are components of a disc whose inner region is appropriately cut out and whose edge is held clamped in the supporting element in the region of the opening edge of the aperture.
