PURPOSE:To simplify a structure of a timing chain jet for pouring a lubricating oil on the timing chain of an engine. CONSTITUTION:An engine concerned is so structured that a timing chain is set over a crank sprocket 4 and cam sprocket and they are enclosed with a chain cover 25, which is provided with projection 33 protruding on the cylinder block 2 side and contacting it 2, and at this projection 33, a timing chain jet 26 is formed which spouts a lubricating oil. When the chain cover 25 is mounted on the cylinder block 2, timing chain jet 26 in proper positioning and direction is obtained.
