PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound containing hydroxysilyl group having a specific structure on the terminal, exhibiting low toxicity and low stimulation to the skin and useful as a transcutaneous absorbefacient to promote the penetration and absorption of a fat-soluble and water-soluble agents through the skin. CONSTITUTION:This compound expressed by the formula V [A is alkyl or group of the formula (CH2)p-SiR1R2OH] is produced by reacting (A) a polyoxyethylene compound of the formula III [A2 is alkyl or group of the formula (CH2)p-2-CH=CH2] having alkenyl group at the terminal and produced by reacting a polyoxyethylene compound of the formula I (A1 is alkyl or H; average of (m) is real number of 3-100) with a strong base and reacting the product with an alkenyl compound of the formula II (X1 is halogen; (p) is 2-6) with (B) a hydrosilane compound of the formula IV [R1 and R2 are 1-6C alkyl or phenyl; X2 is halogen or alkoxy) in the presence of a catalyst and hydrolyzing the reaction product.
