Optical receivers comprising a photodiode (PD) and a transimpedance amplifier are optimally dimensioned for signals having a certain transmission rate. According to the object of the invention, a circuit arrangement is to be specified by means of which the optical receiver can be adapted to different transmission rates. To achieve this object, the feedback resistor of the transimpedance amplifier is divided into at least two series resistors (RF1, RF2). Depending on the transmission rate, a control circuit is used for switching the optimum resistance value in each case in steps into the feedback branch. It is thus advantageously possible to operate such a universal optical receiver, for example adapted in a broadband subscriber line interface, both at a transmission rate of 150 Mbit/s and at a transmission rate of 600 Mbit/s. <IMAGE> |
