In the case of an early-warning device for break-outs of molten metal at ceramic furnace linings of melting furnaces, especially induction melting furnaces, having a first electrode (4) arranged at the furnace lining (3) and a second electrode (7) provided at the base of the crucible, the second electrode (7) is connected to the one pole of an ohmmeter (9) via a current conductor, the other pole of ohmmeter (9) being connected to the one connection of an alternating-voltage source (8), whose other connection is in connection with the first electrode (4). <IMAGE>
