In a secondary cell provided with a nonaqueous electrolyte containing lithium, a negative electrode is formed of a carbonaceous material having an interplanar spacing (d002) of 3.35 to 3.40 ANGSTROM by an X-ray analysis, both the size (La) of the crystallite in the a-axis direction and the size (Lc) of the crystallite in the c-axis direction being 200 ANGSTROM or more, and the degree of vacuum, 2.00 to 2.20 g/cm<3>. Thus, it is possible to provide a secondary cell having excellent cycle properties, self-discharging properties, and a high energy density. <IMAGE> |
