PURPOSE:To reproduce the density of the image of an original as faithful as possible in any density of the image of the original by making the conditions under which a reference toner image is formed, match the conditions under which an image with the representative density of the original is formed. CONSTITUTION:Preliminary scan for calculating the representative density Da of an original is carried out. After a scanner 13 is moved by one line, it is processed by an image signal processing part 20, so that an image area is detected. Concerning each density data of the detected image area, a density level is decided for R, G, and B each and a histogram is formed. The same processing is carried out for the subsequent line. Thereafter, based on the stored data, density with a highest counted value (the representative density of the original) is detected for the R, G, and B each. The densities are set as AIDC test pattern densities and stored in a RAM. Therefore, the representative densities of the original are faithfully reproduced. |
