<p>A dental syringe (10) and disposable capsule (11) for use therewith wherein the capsule includes a body portion (12) formed with a collar (13) having a groove (14) therein at one end and having a nozzle (15) at the other end. The syringe includes a plastic barrrel (16) having a bore (16A) therethrough for receiving a plunger (18). Connected to the barrel (16) adjacent one end is a handle (17) with a lever (20) for engaging the end of the plunger (18) for reciprocating the plunger (18) when the lever (20) is actuated. Connected to the front end of the barrel (16) is a cartridge holder (22) having a rear portion (22A) and a forwardly extending seat portion (22B). The rear portion (22A) is embedded into the barrel (16) with the seat portion (22B) extending forwardly of the front end of the barrel (16). The seat portion (22B) includes an inturned flange (25) which is notched to define a U-shaped opening (25A). The width of the upper end of the opening (25A) is sized to the diameter of the groove (14) in the collar (13) whereby the cartridge is removably retained within the seat by placing the groove (14) in the notch.</p> |
