<p>A wastewater treatment system and method is disclosed, including a circular aeration basin (12) and an annular clarifier channel (14). Rotational flow of an aerated mixture of wastewater and return sludge is induced at the periphery of the basin by a manifold (26) with aerators (28, 30, 32). A clarifier inlet (100) is connected to the basin through the wall (18). A sludge removal header (112) extends within the clarifier having suction arms (114) with valve controls (116). Sludge from the clarifier is mixed with raw wastewater and returned to the aeration basin through the manifold (26). The less turbulent central area of the basin allows sludge to accumulate and be drawn off through a central drain.</p> |
