The top panels (12) which close the upper opening (4) of the rack (1) and the handles (18) are separable from the lateral walls (8 and 9) on which they are hinged in order to transform the rack (1) into a storage unit. The storage unit is then arranged so that the bottles (3) are horizontal, and is stacked with other identical units to form a modular bottle storage unit. At least two opposite lateral sides (24 and 25) include interlocking devices which prevent the units (1) from sliding laterally in relation to one another when they are stacked.
