<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently and exactly execute the recognition of a characterstring containing an unspecified proper noun. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a handwriting storage part 2 for storing both a first coordinate data sequence for showing handwriting of a characterstring subjected to handwriting input, and a second coordinate data sequence for indicating a position of a proper noun contained in the character- string. Also, this device is provided with a character recognizing part 6 for executing character recognition with regard to a first coordinate data sequence stored in the handwriting storage part 2, and obtaining at least one recognition candidate with regard to each character, and an indicated position detecting part 8 for detecting a position of a proper noun for the recognition candidate obtained by the character recognizing part 6, based on a second coordinate data sequence stored in the handwriting storage part 2. Moreover, this device is constituted by providing a sentence recognizing part 10 for obtaining a result of recognition of the whole character-string by executing a language analysis, based on the position of the proper noun detected by the indicated position detecting part 8, with regard to the recognition candidate of every character obtained by the character recognizing part 6.</p> |
