PURPOSE:To highly flexibly operate a backup line by automatically informing the entire network of information on which subscriber's line the backup line is backing up and performing management. CONSTITUTION:In this backup line switching method, a network management device 101 and entire packet exchanges 111-113 are automatically informed that the subscriber's lines 141-144 are switched to the unspecific backup line 145. After receiving switching information, while the backup line is switched to, a call originating side packet exchange switches and connects call originating requests addressed to terminal equipments 121-124 switched to the backup line 145 to the packet exchange 200 on the side of the backup line 145. The exchange 200 receives the call terminating requests of the terminal, equipments 121-124 switched to the backup line 145 and connects them to the backup line 145. Thus, the backup line can be highly flexibly operated relating to the subscriber's lines. |
