A conventional method of ensuring a positive slip-resistant hand grip on exercise or sporting equipment such as weight lifting equipment requires that the participant liberally applies chalk to the palms and fingers of the hands. A simpler, more effective method is to provide a mixture of ethyl alcohol and powdered rosin in the ratio of 3:1. When applied to the athletes' hands, the alcohol flashes, leaving a sticky residue on the palms and fingers. The residue normally lasts a complete sporting session before simply wearing off, but may be prematurely removed by washing in cold water either a grit based soap or hand cleaner. Fragrance may optionally be added to the mixture to render the mixture pleasant smelling.
