A method and apparatus process frames of data to drive an actively addressed display (100) having pixels (108) controlled by first and second groups (104, 106) of electrodes. The apparatus comprises a first processor and a second processor including a digital buffer memory (606, 608) and a drive signal generator (610, 612). A first frame of data representing pixel values is loaded (1204) by the first processor into the digital buffer memory (606) while the second processor concurrently calculates (1206) first electrode drive signals for a time slot (t). The first electrode drive signals are calculated as a function of second electrode drive signals for the time slot (t) and selected pixel values for pixels (108) collectively controlled by a corresponding first electrode (104). The selected pixel values are from a second frame of data loaded during a preceding transmission. |
