By mounting a perforated panel 30 on the entire underside or one part of the underside of an oblique footboard 11 and/or a floor panel 12, which are located behind a bottom impact panel 10, a defined air chamber 40, 41, 42 being formed therebetween, and by suitable adjustment of the thickness of the perforated panel, the diameter of each opening 31, of the spacing between the openings 31 and of the thickness of the air chamber, the disruptive noises produced in the engine compartment and possibly emitted from the body of the vehicle and transmitted to the passenger compartment are absorbed in an effective manner over certain frequency ranges, utilising Helmholtz resonance. This makes it possible to control disruptive noises in a precisely defined manner, and the disruptive noises which are emitted from the body of the vehicle and those which are transmitted to the passenger compartment can be reduced to a considerable extent by suitable adaptation of the sound insulator. If appropriate, the air chamber can be filled with porous, sound-absorbing material.
