摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To enhance mechanical strength, particularly, elasticity of a structure layer, and to reduce an abrasion rate of a friction layer by including the structure layer consisting of a composite carbon-carbon material and a friction coating of a composite carbon-carbon material for covering one surface by being fixed to at least one surface of the structure layer. CONSTITUTION: A structure layer 1 is formed of a fibrous material of the so- called 'coarse' texture 5g including rovings of carbon fiber or a carbon fiber precursor and having an average hole diameter exceeding 100μm. A friction layer 2 is formed of a fibrous material of the so-called 'fine' texture 5f including irregularly distributed carbon or a carbon precursor and having an average hole diameter less than 50μm. The length of a roving segment is 5 to 60 mm, and the length of a fiber segment is 0.05 to 60 mm. Even if it consists of the rovings or even if it consists of the roving segment, the coarse fibrous material 5g has apparent density of 0.3 to 0.7 before desification, and the fine fibrous material 5f has apparent density of 0.05 to 0.3.</p>
