PURPOSE:To lessen the change in the angle of oblique orientation of a liquid crystal by rubbing treatment conditions and to obtain the uniform angle of oblique orientation by consisting the orientation treating material of tetracarboxylic dianhydride and diamine and incorporating a specific diamine compd. into a polyimide resin insolubilized in an org. solvent by a heating treatment. CONSTITUTION:The polyimide resin expressed by formula I is the polyimide resin which contains >=10mol% repeating unit expressed by formula II and is made insoluble in the org. solvent by applying a precursor soln. of polyimide on a substrate, then heating the substrate. In the formula, R<1> and R<3> denote tetracarboxylic acid or quadrivalent org. group constituting a deriv.; R<2> is a bivalent org. group constituting diamine; R<4> denotes a bivalent org. group constituting the diamine selected from formula III; X denotes H, OH, alkyl group, alkoxy group, etc.; m and n denote a positive integer. |
