PURPOSE:To provide the recording medium reproducing device having a function which generates a rhythm pattern synchronized with the playing speed of music recorded on a recording medium for an optional period including a period before the start of the music harmonizing with the start of music when the music recorded on the recording medium begins to be reproduced. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium reproducing device is equipped with a reproducing means which reproduces the music recorded on the recording medium 1; and a rhythm pattern setting means 21 sets the tempo and timing that the music has as parameters and a storage means 24 stores parameters, music by music. A rhythm pattern generating means 5 generates an acoustic rhythm pattern on the basis of the parameters and a repetition frequency setting means 23 sets the frequency of repetition of the rhythm pattern. When selected music on the recording medium is reproduced by a reproducing means, control means 10 and 21 control a rhythm pattern generating means 25 so that the rhythm pattern is generated as many times as the frequency of generation before the selected music is started and then synchronized with and made continuous to the start of the music.
