The originals for copying are zonally scanned by spectrophotometry, and colour separation values matching the spectral sensitivity patterns of the copying material are formed by electronic or computer filtering of the spectral values thus obtained, and are then evaluated to determine the necessary quantities of light for copying. At the same time, the spectral values are used for image analysis and further illumination control. The method avoids the use of expensive optical filters and permits more significant image analysis and hence, ultimately, more accurate measurement of the quantities of light for copying. ……
