The present invention relates to the field of hygiene and more particularly to that of feminine hygiene. Its particular subject is fastening tabs forming an integral part of the sanitary towel and arranged asymetrically along the longitudinal edge of the sanitary towel, the adhesive part of which is on the inside for its user. The invention also comprises a method of production of hygienic articles fitted with these lateral flaps, which consists in enclosing the absorbent wad, formed by cellulose paste or composite, of the sanitary towel, between a polyethylene film and a layer of nonwoven textile or of microperforated polyethylene film which is leaktight to liquids outwards, by sealing the two films by sizing, by cutting from the band the previously formed fabric, consisting of the wad and the two protective layers of leaktight film, to form a corrugated strip in the form of a garland, by depositing on this garland a single-face silicon-coated paper whose inner face has previously been coated continuously or discontinuously with an adhesive and by depositing a second single-face silicon-coated paper whose inner face has previously been coated with one or more blocks of adhesive on the side flaps folded onto the inner face. <IMAGE>
