PURPOSE:To suppress the expansion of a recording pit in the track width direction by driving a laser on the basis of a signal obtained by gating a pulse signal by a recording signal to record the signal. CONSTITUTION:A pulse signal generating circuit 14 generates a pulse train 15 having 0.5T period synchronously with a recording signal 16. A recording signal 16 is supplied to a gate circuit 10, a pulse train 15 is gated by said recording signal 16 and the circuit 10 outputs a signal 17 as an input signal to the circuit 11. The circuit 11 modulates the light emission power of the laser 12 on the basis of the signal 17 to irradiate the laser light on the surface of a recording medium 13. The temperature of the part on the recording medium 13 to which the laser light is irradiated is increased and a signal recording pit is formed by changing the state of the part on the recording medium 13 of which temperature exceeds the threshold. Since the laser light power is changed in accordance with the signal 17, the width of the recording pit is not expanded even at a part in which the section of the 'H' level in the recording signal is long. |
