PURPOSE:To protect an actuator for steering the rear wheels by stopping the steering control for rear wheels when they have fallen into a gutter or wheel track to cause excessive steering load on the rear wheels, and to avoid wastefull consumption of the energy. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 36 computes the twisting amount of the road surface on the basis of the car body height over the road surface in the wheel positions FW1, FW2, RW1, RW2 which are sensed by car height sensors 35a-35d. When this twist amount computed is large, a judgement is passed that the left/right wheel RW1, RW2 has fallen in a gutter or detained with a wheel track, and the steering control of the rear wheels is stopped. |
