PURPOSE:To an oil used in cutting or grinding metal or plastic that is mainly composed of a fatty acid ester of polyhydric alcohol or mixture thereof with mineral oil is added a high polymer from compounds bearing double bonds, thus imparting antimisting and antifuming properties to the oil. CONSTITUTION:Said cutting oil is mainly composed of an ester from a polyhydric alcohol as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, etc., and a saturated or unsaturated higher fatty acid as caproic or palimtic acid and 0-30wt% of mineral oil. Then, as an antimisting agent, a homo- or copolymer from an organic compound bearing double bonds as acrylic acid, isobutylene, vinyl acetate or styrene, preferably a polymer that is soluble in oil and 10,000 or higher in molecular weight is added to the cutting oil in an amount of 0.1-15wt%. |
