PURPOSE:To develop a catalyst for decontaminating exhaust gas by making a catalytic active species carried on oxide powder having the crystalline structure of beta-alumina structure or magnetoplumbite structure wherein the catalytic active species causes particle growth and decontamination ratio is not deteriorated even when the catalyst is used for purification of exhaust gas at the comparatively high temperature i.e., 600 deg.C or higher. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for decontaminating exhaust gas is produced by making a catalytic active species carried on oxide powder having the crystalline structure of beta-alumina structure or magnetoplumbite structure. In the catalyst, at least one part of a cation (i.e., alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, rare earth metallic element) existing on the surface of oxide powder having the crystalline structure of beta-alumina structure or magnetoplumbite structure is substituted by the catalytic active species. |
