To produce furnishings from two fabric sections, a single central seam is formed and two seams at different points are worked in a single pass at one fabric section. One seam crosses two overlaid fabrics, for the padding and lining, to give the relief structure. Through the central seam, the edges are overlaid to form the furnishings semi-automatically. After the central seam has been formed on the two overlaid widths, the upper width is loosened only at the darts at the right section, or only the left section, and tension is applied to the left section or the darts are fixed at the left section. The whole item is then seamed. With two central and parallel seams, or in the same direction, they are 5 cm apart. The central selvages are equally covered by about 5 cm with the padding and lining. After finishing, it is then cut into two parts at the parallel seams. The material is assembled together by overcast stitches or lock stitches into a shape for the couch or bed as required. USE/ADVANTAGE - The method is for assembling furnishings from two fabrics, with widths of 2.4-2.8 m, for a duvet or bed covering. The technique gives an automatic assembly of the fabrics, together with lining and padding.
