PURPOSE: To detect scene changes in sequence of generated images by using a computer that is connected to a video signal source and analyzing display that is digitized in the video sequence. CONSTITUTION: A video signal is generated by an optional video signal source 10, e.g. a video cassette recorder(VCR), etc. The signal is communicated to a scene change detector 20, that is constituted of a computer system which analyzes the signal and detects scene changes. In the detector 20, a signal is first converted into digital display by a quantizing device 21 and stored in a frame buffer 25. An image processor 23 accesses video image stored in the buffer 25, cooperates with a decision processor 26 and carries out the calculation of scene change detection. Furthermore, the processor 23 extracts the time code number of scene changes by calculating a video frame from the beginning of a sequence to a scene change that is currently detected. |
