The description relates to a modular-construction processing centre with various operating modules (6, 8, 10) run by a drive module and with fixed time-controlled tools (12), e.g. bending tools, feed mechanisms, welding stations, assembly units or the like. The drive unit takes the form of a separately handleable plug-in module (2) containing the main drive (4) for the processing centre and has a width (ERM) corresponding to one unit frame measurement of the operating modules (6, 8) integrated into the processing centre. The power is transmitted from the main drive (4) to the individual operating modules (6, 8, 10) via meshing cogs (19, 21, 30, 32, 34, 36) which bridge the interface planes (ES) between the plug-in module (2) and the equipped and fitted processing module (10) on the one hand and between the adjacent operating modules (6, 8) on the other.
