PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic powder for electromagnetic clutch which has a sufficient saturated magnetic flux density and also is excellent in abrasion resistance and oxidation resistance, by specifying the component amounts of Si, Cr and Co and causing the remainder to comprise Fe and inevitable impurities. CONSTITUTION:The powder containes 0.2% or more Si, 3% or more Cr and 5 to 50% of Co and satisfies a formula of 10 [Si] +7[Cr]<=70 (where [] shows the wt.% of each element existing in the powder), and the remainder comprises Fe and inevitable impurities. Si and Cr are components contributing to increase of hardness, which increases hardness to increase abrasion resistance, and Cr is also a component for increasing oxidation resistance. If the value of 10 [Si] +7 [Cr] exceeds 70, the powder becomes fragile and easy to break and the saturated magnetic flux density decreases. Accordingly, by satisfying such composition, a magnetic powder for electromagnetic clutch excelent in abrasion resistance, oxidation resistance and magnetic characteristics can be obtained economically. |
