A thin substantially pure lead film and a method and apparatus for manufacturing the same, wherein the thin film has a lead content of at least 99.4 %, and preferably at least 99.9 % or 99.99 %, and a thickness of less than .003 inches in preferably about .002 inches. The thin lead film has particular usefulness as a component in a thin lead film electrochemical cell. A lead film (14) of about .015 inches thick can be reduced to a thin lead film (44) of about .002 inches thick in a single pass through a reducing roller assembly (30) having a pair of lubricated reducing rollers (32, 34) revolving at an optimum speed to deform the lead film (14). |
