The machine-tool has a mounting (3) for an interchangeable tool (1) with shank (11). A coupling boss (2) on the shank fits in a space (7) inside the mounting, and which is enclosed by a wall (6). The latter is in turn enclosed by a locking member (14), thrusting a positioning one under the boss. The positioning member can consist of a ball accommodated in a hole in the wall and prevented from dropping out by an O-ring (8) on the outside. The ring fits in an annular groove and protrudes part-way into the hole. USE/ADVANTAGE - Easy fitting or removal of tool, and tool is usable with an automatic tool-changing system.
