The gas supply to an infra-red ray burner 8 is controlled by a controller 5 actuated by a pilot burner 4 which extinguishes when the carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere increases above a predetermined level. The pilot burner is disposed below an open bell shaped end of a pipe 18, leading to the combustion chamber of the infra-red burner. The controller 5 is opened at starting by means of a push button 19 and is held open after starting by the heat of the pilot flame.</p> |
