PURPOSE:To reconcile the storage of night surplus electric power and the safe stockpile and custody of degraded uranium in a power station, by efficiently utilizing the degraded uranium generated in bulk in an uranium enriching process and manufacturing a hydrogen storage battery to utilize it as a load conditioner. CONSTITUTION:Many negative and positive electrode plates 3 and 4, with a separator 2 between, are alternately arranged in a battery jar 1, and are bundled on the upper part of the electric jar 1 to be connected to negative and positive electrode terminals 5 and 6 respectively. Here, degraded uranium or its alloy, generated at the time of uranium enrichment in atomic fuel manufacturing, is used as hydride for the negative electrode plate 3, and the nonhydrogen storage alloy of nickel or iron is used for the positive electrode plate 4. The electrolytic solution of KOH water solution is packed in the battery jar 1, and a stirrer 7 and an automatic water feeding cock is provided on the upper part of the electrolyzer 1. Thus hydrogen is generated in a battery by the electric power of a power station basically, and is stored in degraded uranium U, storing electric power chemically in the form of U-H3. |
