The raked material is reduced to a pumpable consistency with particle size under 10 mm and then mixed with the treatment slurry prior to mechanical dewatering. The material is finely raked with a gap width below 1 mm. After removal it is hygienised by the addition of lime and from its removal up to its passage to the treatment slurry is odourlessly enclosed.
