The forme cylinder (1) has a clamping rail with associated actuating shaft in an axis-parallel pit, with the rail swivelable by hinge lifting member (12) for fastening and release of a printing plate edge. The lifting member is a linear slide carriage (13) movable on a side wall (8) of the forme cylinder. The carriage end, facing the forme cylinder axis (A) or spur toothing (18), meshes with a pinion (19) driven by a motor in the forme cylinder. Its other end is joined to a linear arm (10) on the actuating shaft (7) and brought out through the side wall bore (9). USE/ADVANTAGE - For offset sheet printing machines, with sufficient swivel and torque of the actuating shaft even in restricted pit locations.
