The process gas, used for prodn of adsorption material with a carbon content in a moving bed reactor, is gathered in a closed system so that there is only an exhaust gas. The combustion gases from the heating are cooled, and used to drying the feed material and for partial activation and cooling of the adsorbent material. The crude gas of degassing products, cooling gas and reaction products from the activation is burned, together with clouding byproducts, as a source of energy. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system is used for processing lignite brown coal by high temp coking. The process gives adsorbent material with a carbon content cost-effectively and without damage to the environment in a travelling bed reactor, together with a steam supply.
