<p>Non-gelling, radiation curable liquid coating compositions comprise at least one acrylic ester, preferably a mixture of a silyl acrylate and at least one polyfunctional acrylate; silica, preferably having an average particle size in the range of about 15-30 nm.; an initiator for ultraviolet radiation-induced curing and a hindered piperidyl ester such as bis(1-octyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidinyl) sebacate. The compositions also preferably contain an ultraviolet stabilizer, typically a benzophenone or benzotriazole. When employed as coatings for resinous (especially polycarbonate) articles and cured, said compositions provide abrasion resistance and weatherability.</p> |
