PURPOSE:To detect the remaining amount of toner in many stages so as to prevent accidental toner end in the midst of printing, to economically detect it by one toner detection means, and to uniformly maintain the flow of the toner carried to a developing roller whether the remaining amount of toner is large or small. CONSTITUTION:Plural agitators 28 and 29 are arranged in a horizontal direction in a toner stirring container 25 so that the toner in the container 25 may be successively supplied to the developing roller 27 side while it is stirred. A toner presence or absence detection means 30 detecting the presence or absence of the toner is arranged near the last agitator 28 positioned closest to the roller 27. The last agitator 28 is actuated in synchronism with the roller 27, and the other agitator 29 is successively actuated from the point of time when the absence of the toner is detected by the means 30. |
