PURPOSE:To manufacture a compound superconductive wire rod with an excellent yield by composing a composite pipe of a tubular extruding billet made of high melting point component containing metal and Cu for a superconductive compound, inserting a low melting point component for the superconductive compound into the obtained hollow portion, followed by reducing a diameter, and applying a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A hollow portion 4 is formed by disposing a Cu tube 3 in the center of a large-diameter Cu tube 5, thus providing a tubular shape as a whole. Numerous Cu coated Nb rods 1, 2 are filled between the Cu tubes 3, 5, thereby forming an extruding billet. The extruding billet is heated within a temperature range from 105 deg.C to 150 deg.C, followed by extruding, thereby obtaining a composite pipe. An Sn rod is inserted into the hollow portion 4, followed by drawing, and a diameter thereof is reduced, thus manufacturing a compound superconductive wire rod containing Nb3Sn. Consequently, a diameter of a composite pipe can be reduced without breaking the composite pipe while keeping a large volume. As a result, it is possible to decrease material loss due to working and enhance working efficiency. |
