PURPOSE:To prevent such an occurrence as expansion of a side air bag by mistake by providing an expansion forbidding means that prohibits the expansion of the side air bag preceding G-sensor operation when closing action of a side door is detected. CONSTITUTION:It depends on only the output of a G-sensor 7 whether a side air bag 13 is expanded or not. When a side door 1 is closed from its opening condition, especially right after the closing condition is completed, a heavy shock is applied to the side door 1 and the possibility that the G-sensor 7 outputs a detection signal, which signifies a side collision, becomes high. Nevertheless, in this case, the expansion of the side air bag 13 is forbidden, and such an occurrence as the expansion of the side air bag 13 by mistake, which is caused by a shock of closing the side door 1, is prevented. |
