PURPOSE:To provide a channel asigning controller for a mobile communication system capable of increasing the number of channels by applying subrating in the case of congested traffic and improving speech quality in the case of less congested traffic. CONSTITUTION:This controller is constructed in such a way that a radio part 3 provided with a function to increase the number of speech feasible channels with a slave unit 2 is controlled by the channel asigning controller 4 by applying the subrating to narrow the frequency band of a speech wave at a reference rate with the slave unit 2, and the traffic monitoring means 6 of the channel asigning controller 4 detects traffic quantity detected from a communication signal sent from the slave unit 2, and such control to apply the subrating to the radio part is performed by the rate control means 7 of the channel asigning controller when the traffic quantity exceeds a prescribed quantity. |
