PURPOSE:To provide a method and device for correcting the bending habit of an optical fiber to improve the bending habit of the optical fiber and especially improve the reliability at the time of the work in a process related to the utilization of the optical fiber, and provide the optical element using the optical fiber, of which bending habit is corrected. CONSTITUTION:This method corrects the bending habit of an optical fiber 4, which consists of a fiber core part and a protecting film at one layer or more layers for protecting the core part, and in this method, the heating treatment is performed under the condition that the optical fiber 4 is held linear. A bending habit correcting device 1 is provided with a tool body 2 having a hole-like or groove-like guide 2a, in which the optical fiber 4 is to be inserted and held linearly, and a heater part 3 for heating the tool body 2 at a predetermined temperature. The optical fiber treated by this method or this device is used to form an optical element. |
