Viewing screen mfr. for high resolution and quality - by spin-on of phosphor-contg. ethylcellulose lacquer paste on support substrate, distributing mixt., and drying, for X=ray image intensifier output screen

The mfr. involves (a) fixing a screen support substrate (2) o a rotary plate (1); (b) depositing a mixt. (5) of lacquer paste and phosphor at the centre of the substrate; (c) distributing the mixt. by the centrifugal force of the rotary plate (1), and the plate is driven intermittently with pauses; and (d) drying the mixt. Pref. the lacquer paste uses a (short chain) ethylcellulose-based lacquer. The lacquer paste is pref. produced by diluting a raw lacquer paste with terpineol in the ratio 1-2:2-1, (1:1). The phosphor is Tb-activated gadolinium oxysulphide, Gd2O2S:Tb. USE/ADVANTAGE - The mfr. is useful for mfg. output phosphor screens of x-ray image intensifiers. The spin-on mfr. is inexpensive, may be automated and produces high resolution screens with improved and uniform quality, so homogeneous, low noise images are obtd.
