PURPOSE:To prolong the life of an ion exchange resin by performing an ion exchange process by contacting city water for electric discharge machining or water containing such city water with the ion exchange resin at a space velocity of 20h<-1> or faster until the electric conductivity of the city water or the water becomes 50muS/cm or less. CONSTITUTION:An ion exchange process is performed by contacting city water for electric discharge machining or water containing such city water with the ion exchange resin at a space velocity of 20h<-1> or faster until the electric conductivity of the city water or the water becomes 50muS/cm or less. By increasing the city water in electric discharge machining, the throughput is increased resulting in the multiplied span of life of the ion exchange resin used. The operation required to exchange the ion exchange resin in an ion exchange process is also reduced accordingly. As a result, an unmanned ion exchange process operation will be possible in the case of long periods of uninterrupted operation of electric discharge machining in an unmanned factory. |
