PURPOSE:To improve the aperture rate of the transmission type plasma address electrooptical device. CONSTITUTION:This device is equipped with a glass substrate 4 which has plural transparent signal electrodes D which are arranged in parallel to one another along a specific main surface, a glass substrate 7 where mutually parallel plasma electrodes 8 are crossed at right angles to the signal electrodes D and arranged opposite the signal electrodes D, a liquid crystal layer 6 which is interposed between both those substrates 4 and 7, and a plasma chamber 13 which is formed between the liquid crystal layer 6 and glass substrate 7 and wherein ionizable gas is charged. The plasma electrodes 8 have anodes A and cathodes K which are arrayed alternately. The anodes A are formed of exposed parts of a transparent conductive film 9 formed on the glass substrate 7 in a surface shape including at least plural scanning units. The cathodes K, on the other hand, are formed of striped conductive films formed on the transparent conductive film 9 across an insulating film 10. |
