A method of producing a cage for a constant velocity ratio universal joint, with the object of achieving greater accuracy in respect of the position of a guiding surface of the cage and of window faces which guide the balls relative to one another, such method substantially not involving chip-forming material removal. The method comprises the steps of deep drawing a dish with a rim 21 from a circular sheet metal blank, and at the same time forming circumferentially spaced inward and/or outward projections 17 on the circumferential surface thereof where windows in the cage are to be provided; secondly punching out the base 22 of the dish and the rim thereof while leaving parts forming projections 19 at the outer circumference of the dish; thirdly shaping the outwardly directed projecting parts into their finished configuration by profile stamping; and fourthly punching out the windows, 8. <IMAGE> |
